Guest guest
Your thyroid tests look pretty good. If you are not feeling well, you do have a little room for a small increase. You cannot draw any inferences about cortisol from the DHEA test. If you are taking DHEA, then you may need a slightly larger dose. If you are not taking any, then you may want to talk to your doc about taking some to get your DHEA-S up to mid-range. An 8 am cortisol would be a more valuable test, in which case, you probably need your results to be in the uppermost third or so of the range. Is there some reason your doc is not also testing estrogens, testosterone and progesterone? >> Hi there, these are my most recent labs for Thyroid and Cortisol. Guest guest
I'm not taking any DHEA, so I'll mention that at my next visit. I will also ask about a morning cortisol lab, as well. My progesterone and testosterone were tested last year and I've been taking a compounded progesterone pill. I'm not sure about the estrogens. Is that the name of the test " estrogen? " I have my yearly exam next week and I can ask for that test then when she retests the progesterone, etc. Thanks so much! Guest guest
My doc usually tests estradiol and estrone. There is also a total estrogen test available. momidawn2001 wrote: I'm not taking any DHEA, so I'll mention that at my next visit. Guest guest
Just from personal experience, I would agree about the DHEA possibly being a key. It's made all the difference for me. I got to 1700+ in late 2006 (170+ in the lab range shown), up from my starting level of 700 in Jan 2005, dropped in April 2007 to maybe 1450, and felt worse. Since my increase in September, I've felt tons better. I will be interested to see my labs to be done in February. I would guess I'm finally in range on my DHEA for what my doc wants, 2000-3000.
