Guest guest
hi mindy!! we were actually one of the NAET study families. our difficulties with it were as follows: 1) flexibility: the hours that they do the treatments was pretty fixed. that meant if you had an ABA program running, and had a change in schedule, sometimes we couldn't make our appointments, or get a make-up time. 2) waiting: once in the office, it could sometimes be an hour or more before we were seen. once a treatment is done, we would need to wait in the office for 20 minutes to be re-tested for clearance. during the hour+ in the office, there were kids everywhere... running in the halls, outside, flushing toilets, & playing with the drinking fountains. i didn't mind as i also have an auti, but there were older " paying " customers who were visibly & vocally cranky about the noise/action. also, given the wait, they also instituted a no music/electronics/noise-making device rule so the kids were really left without any preffered mode of entertainment (i can coax my child into coloring for 10 minutes, but for 1.5 hours???). 3) staff: the number of staff administering the treatments (while very nice) was very limited(typically 1 person). also, the psychologist who did reports was very cranky, and could be quite rude. 4) results: personally we didn't see a big improvement in our son. i did see one child who was able to write his wants/needs down after several treatments, but the results/improvements for us was not strong enough for us to be willing to justify the first 2 issues. supposedly there is an accupunture half to the " complete " treatment. our DAN doctor thought it wasn't going to do anything (he considered becoming a NAET practioner) since the accupunture was missing. 5) stopping all other biomedical treatments: this is part of their new requirements. before we were free to continue other treatments. for this study, they are going to require that you do not do any other treatments than NAET. since there are quite a large number of treatments to be given (and at a slow rate), you may be waiting well over 8 months to start something you really want to start. i know that paying for these treatments is quite expensive, and that some people swear by them. however, like all treatments, your-mileage- may-vary. good luck!! shannon. > > I was contacted today by a doctor in my area that is one of many that are to begin clinical trials on children within the autism spectrum. They are looking for children with food allergies with an autisitic diagnosis. NAET is a non-invasive technique that is based on energetic principles. It is a process of testing the change in the energy state of the body when exposed to allergens. > I have not committed to anything at this time, I was just curious if anyone had any experience with this? > Mindy > >
