Tics: PANDAS or Diflucan?

Hi all,

We're trying to figure out why my son has suddenly developed a lot of

strange tics, noises, body movements, repetitiveness, and general

squirminess in the last 5 days or so.

We are looking into PANDAS (took him in for a throat culture Friday;

results come back on Tuesday) He did just get over a very nasty cold,

but there was no fever and his other symptoms weren't consistent with

strep at all. I know that a lot of kids can be carriers even without

symptoms, but his ASO's, including the last one about 3 months ago,

have always been negative.

The only other possibility I can think of is that he was recently

switched to Diflucan. The die-off period lasted about two weeks and

then he was doing great, until this. Could he have developed a

sensitivity to the red/pink dye in the pills? Could anything else

cause this kind of sudden tic problem?

TIA,

Donna
