Guest guest
I think it is safe to say at this point that any person ill with any immune problem, auto and/or neuro has to watch out for candida problems and the diet they consume. Michele Cerruto, SC Re: newly diagnosed Sensory Disorder Hi - I think I responded before but didn't catch the part of the Immune deficiency syndrome. That even adds more impact... if the immune system is deficient, the liklihood of candida/yeast/fungal infections, being opportunistic as they are, is even more likely. It is not necessarily an overall cause, but surely a potential contributing factor. Yeast problems are very common in kids, and some type of immune response to it can set up sensory problems, as well as chronic viral infections, or any other chronic infection or reaction (including food reactions) that could be setting up inflammation of the central nervous system. What type of immune deficiency in particular does your child have? And does he have a history of thrush? If your child is going to be receiving treatment, you may very well see a significant improvement in the sensory problems as his body is supported by treatment and any infections gotten under control. In the meantime, research therapy and find a good occupational therapist. Depending on age, if younger than 3, there may be an early intervention program available for free where an OT could come to your home or daycare and give therapy. Call a children's hospital or autism support group for a good referral. Hope that helps and hang in there - a lot improvement can take place once a problem is recognized, and sensory problems can wreak havoc on behaviors, so even though you may be very distressed right now, your family's quality of life may soon improve. --- greshammomma <greshammomma@...> wrote: > My 23 month old son was diagnosed just yesterday > with Sensory > Integration and Immune Deficiency Syndrome.
