Guest guest
Hi All, Has anyone changed the pink/salmon tenex pills back to the white? I finally did two days ago and for us a big difference. I would have done it sooner however I was sure it was the new ssri paxil causing the problems ..but we also started the pink tenex at the same time. What was I thinking ..I will never started two new things at once . I didn't think the tenex would be a problem since he had been on it for awhile. I spoke with the office and they said to it would be ok to try it ..just wondering it anyone else had a problem and changed back. I know Donna was thinking about it. Thanks again . Guest guest
Hi Candy, For our son it seems that " dyes " make him extremely hyper and cranky! He didn't tolerate the pink diflucan, the blue Valtrex (we're getting both compounded by Friendly Hills Pharmacy), or the pink Tenex and Celexa. Luckily our pharmacy is able to get both Tenex and Celexa in the white pill! Like you I thought that the " Pink or blue " dyes couldn't be the problem! There is a big difference in his behavior! I hope this helps. Argie TENEX Hi All, Has anyone changed the pink/salmon tenex pills back to the white? I finally did two days ago and for us a big difference. Guest guest
Hi Argie, I tried to get Valtrex compounded but was told that it was patent until 2011 or some far off year like that. This is a registered coumpound pharmacy associated with the US ones. Have you been told anything like this? Is it really Valtrex or another antiviral? Many thanks, Lori TENEX Hi All, Has anyone changed the pink/salmon tenex pills back to the white? I finally did two days ago and for us a big difference. Guest guest
we also get our tenex from Friendly Hills as ourlocal pharmacies are unable to get the brand name. We tried generic and bounced ... over 70% of medicines contain some form of milk. Sometimes as a 'butter' to ease digestion. And it doesn't have to be reported because it's an 'inert ingredient' (as per the FDA) doris land
Guest guest
Our son has shown his most biggest attention gains from Zoloft (SSRI) 1 and a 1/2 of 50 mg per day and his most biggest calming of hyperactivity from Tenex 1/2 1 mg. in the a.m. and 1 whole 1 mg. in the p.m. We have also seen improvement from his Wellbuitron (SSRI and NDRI). Just keep at trying to find the right fit for your son, every child is different. I must add in, fyi, that I work in an M.D's office consulting on all autism, adhd, and bipolar patients, as well as my son being a patient of Dr. G for three years now, and I firmly believe that SSRI's, Tenex, SSRI/NDRI, antifungals, antivirals, perhaps in low dosages Adderral, and sometimes antipsychiotics are very effective for our little one's epidemically acquiring autism. Best of luck and keep the faith! >From: Doris and Steve <sjsmith@...> >Date: 2007/10/12 Fri AM 08:06:08 CDT > < > >Subject: re: tenex > >we also get our tenex from Friendly Hills as ourlocal pharmacies are unable >to get the brand name. Guest guest
Hi and Sal: I appreciate your response and this makes me well informed. I have been visiting this group frequently and I know there is a great deal of knowledge around. We are into the 4th week of Tenex and this I believe is the last time we are up'ing the dose (1mg AM and 1 PM) in our search to find the optimum dosage for Josh. At this point based on our observations, Tenex has definitely worked for Josh (there is a greater degree even calm - not sedation as our doctor instructed us to notice) but we are unsure of the best dosage. We started to notice improvement from around the 2nd week as our doctor had told us. Based on the school feedback Josh had an excellent week on 1 mg PM dosage. The following week on 1/2 mg AM dosage and 1 mg PM dosage, Josh had 1 bad day and 1 good day in school. Unfortunately, I have not yet been able to have his teacher report her feedbacks on the other days of that week. So, at this point I cannot conclusively say if the 1/2 mg AM and 1 mg PM dosage is working or not. Wanted to know if the full benefit of Tenex is gradually realized over time or would you know its maximum benefit by about 4 - 6 weeks. What is Wellbuitron ? Is it some kind of a stimulant? If yes, does it work differently from Ritalin? Guest guest
No, wellbutrin is an NDRI, not a stimulant. Cheryl On Oct 12, 2007, at 5:57 PM, Amit Ganguli wrote: > What is Wellbuitron ? Guest guest
another mom and I did some research on the SSRIs. We were curious on why some of our kids reacted negatively to (let's say) Zoloft but not celexa... I'll see if I still have that item saved off - it may have been part of the 'byte fairy's purge of my email' a few years ago ... but it was posted on the group so hopefully a search should find it ... the rxlist is a good place to start but I think we had more success with package inserts that come with the meds. The mom I was working with was having a problem with a certain antibiotic. Her child was reacting to it as if it had milk in it. Turns out there was milk in it - butter. I don't remember the name of the antibiotic but it was liquid and yellow. Butter was added by the manufacturer for taste and texture. There's also the case of certain liver genes and how they process the meds. We had tested for a certain gene associated with certain SSRIs. Update was normal. Guest guest
Tenex (guanfacine) is an antihypertensive. It is commonly used to treat high blood pressure, but has been approved to treat ADHD. It helps with impulsivity and hyperactivity. My son has been on it for two years now and it really helps. HTH, Robyn p.s. Although there are listed side effects on RX List and WebMD, Noah hasn't experienced anything major. From: vanessagamarrac1 <vanessagamarrac1@...> Subject: TENEX Date: Tuesday, June 30, 2009, 10:24 PM Hi All: Does any one knows about TENEX? what is it used for? side effects?
