Guest guest
Dr. U took our insurance and our ins. negotiated with his office, and they came to an agreement on an amt. we did not have to pay anything add'l. My 2 boys sit very still and we had no problems with movement, so I can't comment on movements and need to recalibrate. At one time, Dr. Goldberg preferred Dr. Uszler's eval to those done at Harbour. I do not know if that is still the case. Dr. Uszler was trained under Dr. Mena, also, I'm pretty sure. I'm pretty sure he is a radiologist who was trained under Dr. Mena and specializes in neurospects. Carmen does not do the evaluation of the neurospect, does she? She is not a doctor or am I wrong? Who is the actual doctor who assesses the spect at Harbour? Dr. Uszler and his staff were all very patient and kind. But I have to qualify that with the fact that my sons are easy to work with. So I do not know what it would be like if they were not. Re: cost. If your insurance does not pay, Dr. U may be more expensive than Harbour. I would ask each place specifically, what it will cost before it is done. I agree. information gathered from the spect is invaluable in guiding Dr. G's medication choices and changes. --- Doris and Steve <sjsmith@...> wrote: > -from a few parents ... but it could be their > personal experiences > as well. Guest guest
We've had very positive experience with him as well. He took BCBS without any problems (it was paid in full). They even pay for anesthesiologist, so I had zero to pay. He took some time to talk to us (he also used to live in MN) and more them that: since we've had an appointment with Dr.G the same day he was able to give preliminaty results very quickly. Again, only positive experience Regina Doris and Steve <sjsmith@...> wrote: -from a few parents ... but it could be their personal experiences as well. They've always been pretty much on target in the past .... Does Dr Uzler take any form of insurance? How capable is his staff? Are they patient? Do they allow misc things to distract the patient during the scan? Most important,if the patient twitches or needs to scratch are they able to recalibrate the measurements to account for the movement? How much of an expert is he when reading the spects? I'm not aware of his qualifications. We've always worked with Carmen who has trained directly under Dr Mena. I'm willing to build my own opinion of him if he takes insurance. The SPECT scans are pretty important when determining what meds to tweak. I'd hate to have to live on beans and rice for a year to afford one for my son. doris -land Message: 19 Date: Wed, 15 Mar 2006 20:06:34 -0800 (PST) From: Barb Katsaros <barbkatsaros@...> Subject: Re: Re: SPECT scan Hi, Doris! You've heard odd things about Dr. Uszler? We have had very good experiences with him. He sat down with us, before and after the spects, and was very nice about answering questions, etc. Just thought I'd tell you some positives about him. I can't say any negatives, to tell the truth. Guest guest
I have to agree with Barb. I was not sure about Dr. Uzler, But I have to see we had a good experence, my son also did great job stay still too. That makes everbody happy. Like Barb tald me before, the parking was easy. We only had go across street for lunch at a Thai resturant. We did have a order of sedate med for if in case, but think back, he did not know my son, so I guess it is not that unreasonable to parpare for worst case. But he said if Dr. G does says they do not need sedation, it usually work not need. We had the scan the day before our appointment with Dr. G, next day he already had write up. He was on our insurnace as preffered provider. I had too pay very little co-pay. Jin > > > -from a few parents ... but it could be their > > personal experiences > > as well.
