Guest guest
I thought a few of you might find this helpful Top contains pieces of an overview of Dr G's presentation at the conference in Bethesda MD in 1999 Below are a few notes I took from Dr G's Bethesda talks (Dr G and parents - Sat night - 3-4 hrs of nothing but non-stop chat ... Dr G with a laptop, marker and big pieces of paper - boy how I miss these!!!) - A DISEASE PROCESS what are we seeing on the SPECT scans: - abnormal scans - hypoperfusion - temp lobe (right temp lobe = social skills // left temp lobe = language/auditory) - hypoperfusion - occipital/parietal lobe - hypoperfusion - cerebellum (3 above indicate motor coord, fine -gross motor skills problems) - scalloping/thinning - explains LKS - abnormal EEGs - normal MRIs - normal CAT scans Immune abnormalities reported: - changes in T Cells (and function) - CD4 / CD8 increased/decreased - low (and elevated) NK cells - B cells (increased and decreased) - increased interleukin 2 receptors - decreased mitogen response - altered delayed hypersensitivity - antibodies to serotonin receptors - antibodies to neuro elements Immune/Viral patterns in blood work: -low NK cells - elevated T4, T8 cells - positive ANAs - multiple elevated viral titers - 'shifts to the right' on food screens (IgG and IgE) Bethesda Night talks - A small study conducted back in MAT days of 48 NY families > in 2000-1 24 were still with Dr G. > 7 of these kids had made progress but still not 'ok' > 7 of these kids were almost there > 10 kids fully functioning, 'normal', on a main. schedule - Vaccine schedule: > DPT / Polio / Hib -> all needed on schedule so long as the child is healthy. can be spaced out > Hep B -> give as a teenage unless in an environment where the child's health is at risk > MMR -> 15 mths (now I have a note here to wait for the measles vaccine until 10-11 yrs old. Might indicate a booster) > no Chickenpox vaccine - medications in general: > ritalin has the same effect as cocaine onthe brain (cuts blood flow) > risperadal will damage brain over time > nystatin - most yeast are resistant to it Doris - land
