Just heard on the news that Montel has been diagnosed with MS but he added, " I

don't know how long I've had it because I've been misdiagnosed for years. "

Interesting! I wonder if he has been tested for Lyme?

I also was Dx with MS and had a positive western Blot. I hate to wish Lyme

on anyone but it could be helpful to the cause if it was Lyme instead of MS.

Hi Roe,

Far as I know, there is no reliable test for MS, it is similar to Lyme

disease that way, when I had the MRI I had on my brain done, the report said

" lesions similar to those found in MS or Lyme disease. I think MS is a clinical

dx too. Can't help but wonder why Montel is just announcing this 10 years after

his dx, ratings down maybe? Sorry, I am just in a lousy, skeptical mood today.

as far as ratings Marta - you may be right - he did something similar

concerning breast surgery he had while in the service to gain ratings.

I thought there was a spinal tap test or something for ms. oh well if

its lyme boy will that help our cause - i have hoped someone famous

would get it!! but they would probably be treated with as much iv as

they want!

Hi Roe,

You could be right about the spinal tap, I remember something now about

bands, the word starts with an OGL.....can't recall the rest. If Poor Montel

feels half as crappy as I do today, I sure do feel sorry for him, ratings trick

or not.

A lot of celebs do this. I think they wait until they

cannot hide it anymore. (i.e. outward symptoms start

to manifest)

I heard on the news he justs got the diagnose of MS in March. He looked very

tired!!

I felt bad for him being that there is no treatment for MS. I know a friend

who has it and it could be very debilating.

Hi,

I read in tonight's Philadelphia Daily News that he was only recently

diagnosed but has suffered minor neurological problems like tingling

sensations for ten years, in the last six months he has begun to experience

pain. He also said he came forward because he felt his celebrity name may

help others become aware of MS and he has started a foundation for MS hoping

to find a cure in 5 years. Mea Culpa, my apologies to Mr. Montel .

Maybe if researchers discover that it is a bacterial infection causing MS we

will all be helped. Hope so,

--Well I think I will try sending in my story.

I hope that I get it written so that it is understandable.

May need some help having someone proof read after I get it written.

Thanks Bev

I don't think he will help us. He has stated on national tv as well as a

woman who came on his show (don't remember her name) that they believe

most people with Lyme actually have MS. I guess it is worth a try I am

just stating what he said; and don't hold much hope for him helping us.

Doris asked;

Marcia - did you ever send Montel your son's success story?

Doris

I never wrote Montel. Although many others like Bush, Oprah, Rosie, Bill

and Melinda Gates, Doug Flutie, Travolta, Dan Marino and many others. I

can't remember all of them. The only one who sent money was the Flutie

foundation.

Previous postings from people who have tried contacting him about it

suggest he's in the pay of one of the CRAB fiends (sorry, manufacturers)

and not interested in LDN.

, I believe that Montel uses Copaxone, as far a traditional meds go. I have read that he has done/does other alternative treatments. I've just never heard what those treatments are. I have heard him talk about a very healthy diet and exercise. I don't know what category of MS he has, but my guess is Benign or Relapsing/Remitting. He does talk about being in pain, so who knows??? He appears to be doing very well. Many of us have written to him about LDN, but I have never gotten a response. Montel is certainly secretive about his MS treatments. I wrote a

letter to him and mentioned my EAP treatments. Thought the EAP might

help get a response. He has not responded. He either is doing an

off-the-wall treatment and or has a benign case of RRMS.

Terri Garr is taking Copaxone and will no be filmed walking.

Lander (Squiggy) is taking Avonex (I think?) Don't know when his last

job was. Lander is also taking medical marijuana as well is Montel.

Thanks group, for the responses. And the additional information about other Stars. I did not know Teri Garr had MS. Every time I ever saw Annette Funicello though, my heart would ache for her. I have not seen her on TV in a long time now. It is so amazing how MS can hit people so differently in so many ways and from very mild symptoms to severe.

Fulminating MS means rapidly deteriorating M S. Her Dr. called it

that right from the beginning. I don't know how he was able to

determine that, but from her initial diagnosis to her death was only

7 years.

When was 36 she got a bad headache, after 3 days she went to a

vision center in the mall, thinking maybe she needed glasses. The Dr

there saw something that alarmed him and sent her straight to the

hospital. He thought she may possibly have an aneurysm. After 2 weeks

in the hospital and a process of ruling out this or that, the

Neurologist told her it was Fulminating MS.

prior to this event, the only symptoms that could have been a clue

were she would get a lot of pain in her knees after stooping as in

washing the floor, and if she had as much as one alcoholic drink she

experienced numbness in her lips. We don't know for sure if those

things were related but you hear that you may have MS long before

symptoms show up enough to diagnose.

From her diagnosis, things did go down hill rather fast. Slurring

speech, loosing her balance, loss of bladder control, lose of vision

and difficulty swallowing to the point of the feeding tube which was

put in in her 4th year. All through that, my sister never lost her

sense of humor and her spark. She was always known to have a bubbly

up-beat personality. Everyone adored her. She was so brave and only

cared how her kids and her family were coping with this so she always

put up a good front.

The funniest thing she did was when she was hospitalized that first

time, she of coarse was told no smoking! A Dr. was passing her room

one day and she yelled out to him... " Hey...I'll give you a B.J. for a

cigarette! " The nurses were hysterical. They loved her and would try

to come around her as much as they could for a dose of her humor and

sunshine.
