Guest guest
I would most definitely talk to the principal!- Maybe there's a reasonable explanation, but if not something must be done! And the parking issue is also unacceptable- special needs kids must be considered when planning parking just like anything else! It really is none of my business, but because I have a child who will one day be in the same situation (not at that school, but at another school inthe same district) it sort of is. Plus, I keep thinking of this little boy just sitting there all by himself! If another parent saw Peyton in that situation, I would want them to do something about it if I wasn't aware of what was going on! What do you guys suggest I do?? I would really appreciate your feedback! > > Thanks in advance, > Corrie Young > mom to Peyton, 4yrs, CHARGE and Cy 10 mos. > > p.s. The parking situration is a whole other " issue " . They are trying to tell us parents that we have topark and walk several yards to get our kids to school because they want to use the area outside of their school for recess. Guest guest
Hi Corrie, yes I would talk to the principal about what you saw,and bring your concerns up..if you don't get anywhere with him, then go to the board...a few years ago when My daughter was in a handicap class,it was small enough that all us parents kept in touch with everything we knew or saw of our kids in the class..and today I wish so much that we still had that..the hardest thing for us as parents I think(in my case anyway)is the school..I find myself fighting each year for my daughther, weather its with them 'pushing' her beyond what she can do,or like this year, she's in middle school(still at first grade level)but they have to go across the parking lot to the gym building for some classes, and another parking lot to the elem.school for lunch...my daughter gets pneumoina quicker then anything..her colds turn fast,to pneumonia..so this year its fighting to get her not to go outside to these buildings during the cold weather and bad days.... but yes, by all means go to the principal,or school board...and even notify the boy's parents if you know them, let them know what's going on with their child..he should not be sat alone like that, and has every right to be seated with the other children.... sorry if this message sounds harsh, but sometimes I get so upset with schools and our kids... nancy ralston mom to amanda 17 trista-mae 13-charger --- Mike and Corrie Young wrote: > Hello everyone! > > Today while taking my 4 yr old CHARGEr to school, I > pulled up to find a chain blocking me from pullilng > up to his building all the way. > > I went in to the main school(my son's school is > housed in a trailer beside the K-6 facility) to talk > to the principal who happened to be in the cafeteria > with the students who were eating. Guest guest
Hi Mike and Corrie, I can't give you much information. However, I am going to send your message to my sister and brother-in-law. They both teach "special need" children and perhaps they can assist you and all of us in what we should"do" when or if we encounter a similar type situation. Best wishes, Mike and Corrie Young wrote: Hello everyone! Today while taking my 4 yr old CHARGEr to school, I pulled up to find a chain blocking me from pullilng up to his building all the way. Guest guest
Corrie, I think it kind of depends on what your relationship is like with the principal. Regardless, I don't see a lot of harm in saying that you noticed and how sad that made you. Tim Tim Hartshorne, father of Mike and Corrie Young wrote: Hello everyone!
