Guest guest
Corrie, I think it kind of depends on what your relationship is like with the principal. Regardless, I don't see a lot of harm in saying that you noticed and how sad that made you. Tim Tim Hartshorne, father of Mike and Corrie Young wrote: Hello everyone! Today while taking my 4 yr old CHARGEr to school, I pulled up to find a chain blocking me from pullilng up to his building all the way. I went in to the main school(my son's school is housed in a trailer beside the K-6 facility) to talk to the principal who happened to be in the cafeteria with the students who were eating. As I was walking up to him to ask him to have the chain removed so we could pull up to unload our children, I noticed a visually impaired child sitting at a completely empty table all by himself. There was a ROOM FULL of children, several teachers and here sat this child all by himself with his fingers in front of his eyes. I got a huge pit in my stomach and still do as I write. My question to all of you is what do I do? Do I talk to the principal about what I saw? It really is none of my business, but because I have a child who will one day be in the same situation (not at that school, but at another school inthe same district) it sort of is. Plus, I keep thinking of this little boy just sitting there all by himself! If another parent saw Peyton in that situation, I would want them to do something about it if I wasn't aware of what was going on! What do you guys suggest I do?? I would really appreciate your feedback! Thanks in advance,Corrie Youngmom to Peyton, 4yrs, CHARGE and Cy 10 mos. p.s. The parking situration is a whole other "issue". They are trying to tell us parents that we have topark and walk several yards to get our kids to school because they want to use the area outside of their school for recess. Peyton weighs 45 lbs and doesn't walk and I have a 10 month old! "5th CHARGE Syndrome International Conference, Indianapolis, Indiana, July 20-22, 2001.
