Sotalol is proarrhythmic like Amiodarone and Flecainide, but it doesn't usually have as many side effects as Amiodarone. Perhaps you have already tried these drugs as well as the safer beta blockers and calcium channel blockers. I am doing well right now on Atenolol and Verapamil, which keep my rate slow and fairly steady to the point that I have difficulty telling when I am in afib. My older brother in permanent afib is doing well on Atenolol and Digoxin. (Digoxin is thought to be more appropriate for those already in permanent afib than for those suffering paroxysmal afib because it can encourage aftib in paroxysmal sufferers.)The drug that is right for you would depend on the overall condition of your heart. in sinus in Seattle
