Hi Chip, Sorry you're having so many difficulties with doctors in the hospital. That's ridiculous that they don't seem to care any more than that.Doxy is a really good antibiotic for infections as it seems to cover most. I'm on it right now for a sinus infection. If that's not helping, then yes, you need testing to see what's going on in there and see if another antibiotic is appropriate. I'd talk to your gp and get her to get those tests done.Praying for you and good luck To: Aspergillus Support Group ; Asthma Group <asthma > Sent: Monday, January 9, 2012 6:29 AM Subject: Worried

OK, so now I'm beginning to get worried! As most of you know I was dragged kicking and gasping into hospital just before Christmas. I was treated with aminophylline and sent home after 5 days & 4 nights with no further treatment.

Just after Christmas I was admitted again, once again the aminophylline was administered but I didn't recover much. On New Years Eve while still in hospital I contracted a chest infection and deteriorated again. I was eventually prescribed Doxy and kicked out two days later on both Doxy and Amoxy for one week.

During these times in hospital, my own consultant avoided me like the plague, even when he was stood less than 4 metres from my bed! A consultant did `pop' in and prescribe the antibiotics and only at my request but I received no examination! No sputum tests were taken, no blood tests were taken, no full examination was given, no diagnosis was actually made and a week later I am still in severe difficulty!

X-rays were taken but I have no faith in the fact that they were really examined or understood. So I have been admitted twice in one month, four times since March 2011, and no one appears concerned, I have not had a real examination, diagnosis or even revised treatment for over 3 years now, despite regular trips into hospital as an emergency. None of my questions have been answered and I don't appear to be under the full care of a respiratory consultant!

So I am in limbo! The questions I need answering are simple;

1. What kind of chest infection is it?

2. Am I on the correct antibiotics for that infection?

3. Is there a fungal infection?

4. Am I absorbing Itraconazole sufficiently? Should I be on something else?

5. Why do my symptoms appear different this time?

6. Is there a change in my `normal' condition?

7. Has my asper changed?

8. Have any other issues been investigated?

9. Why am I not improving despite huge doses of preds, antibiotics and antifungals?

10. Finally, where the hell do I get help?

I am now investigating the possibility of seeking an earlier appointment with the Prof, however this will be very expensive and to be honest, I'm not sure I could make the trip anyway!

So I remain in limbo with no clear avenue of support. My health is concerning me, which is unusual, but I feel the lack of support is becoming dangerous.

I hope that by writing this, questions will be asked on my behalf if the worst happens.

Will try and see my GP tomorrow, at least her support is genuine and to the very best of her abilities. But it would appear that admission into hospital is no longer an option for me, so I'll have to deal with it at home!

Sorry for the downer, needed to express my concerns to people who will at least listen . . !

Thanx.

Cheers from Mike (Chip) Chapman
