Guest guest
Doris, I always remember the office telling me not to give the " 2 A's " amoxicillian, and augmenton. Joni
Guest guest
unfortunately I don't think the local ped. had a choice. Amoxicillian is what we have ... so far, nothing negative. Sniffling has lessened ... I " m to call the ped on Monday with info on whether it's working. Do you know why the office said no to both antibiotics? doris > > Doris, I always remember the office telling me not to give the " 2 A's " > amoxicillian, and augmenton. > Joni > > >
Guest guest
Doris, I can't remember why they said no to those 2 antibiotics. I just remember asking if any were off limits when I thought she might have needed to go on one. Joni
Guest guest
Doris: Amoxicillian can sometimes cause loose stools and/or yeast infections, but this is usually reported more often in infants. Maybe just replenish probiotics once the amoxicillian is complete. But likely your son won't have any problems with a one-time course of it. From what I have gleamed, it is the back to back rounds of this med on infants used for chronic ear infections that reak havoc on the gut. (my son was on multiple courses as an infant which is why I have researched this). Re: Amoxicillian unfortunately I don't think the local ped. had a choice. Guest guest
loose stools would be a blessing (really :-) ) He usually goes the other way .... we have bumped up the 'good flora' while he's on amoxicillin. It appears to be working with so far, little side effects. He ate 2 herbed chix breasts for supper .. doris > > > > Doris, I always remember the office telling me not to give the " 2 A's " > > > amoxicillian, and augmenton. > > Joni > > > > > >
Guest guest
I've only experienced " the clogging " when there were significant problems with yeast after an antibiotic. At the same time, my whole gi tract felt very inflammed and sore to touch the tummy. Diflucan and probiotics would clear that right up, whereas no diet change ever helped. I'm also real sensitive to foods with red color to them (even natural color like red bell pepper, and even unnatural like corned beef), and if I eat something with red, the same inflamed feeling will happen again but doesn't last long enough to 'get clogged'. I think chronic constipation is due to inflammation either to food reactions or yeast sensitivity for a lot more people than is realized yet. I've suggested people try Diflucan and probiotics as a remedy several times, and every one that tried it improved even without diet changes, especially one who had been taking bran and other constipation meds and remedies for many years without improvement. --- drsmit6 <sjsmith@...> wrote: > loose stools would be a blessing (really :-) ) > He usually goes the other way .... > we have bumped up the 'good flora' while he's on > amoxicillin. > __________________________________________________
