I use Advair and had no problem with it at all so far. To: "asthma " <asthma > Sent: Friday, January 6,

In 1996, GlaxoKline began a 28-week clinical trial designed to determine the effects of Serevent compared to a placebo. Of the study's 13,179 participants using Serevent, 13 patients died after suffering an adverse respiratory reaction caused by the medication itself. For comparison, three of the 13,176 participants taking a placebo died during the study. The SMART study also discovered the risk of deadly side effects was much more likely in the African American subgroup of the trial. Caucasian participants, who comprised 71 percent of the trial subjects, did not have a statistically significant increase in serious side effect risks. African Americans, who comprised 17 percent of the patient population studied, were found to be at

greater risk for

life-threatening drug side

effects. Researchers point out that, while the risk is greater for African Americans, less than one percent of these patients suffered a fatal drug reaction. To: "asthma " <asthma > Sent: Friday, January 6, 2012 2:38 PM Subject: Re: Re: What can

Don't worry about the risks of advair - many people use it problem free. I've said this before, but if you google advair warnings (the name used only in America), you get 6 530 000 results. If you google seretide warnings (seretide being the international name that is used everywhere else in the world but is exactly the same drug), you get 1 880 000 results. So it seems that the vast majority of the warnings stem from America. Here in the UK, 'increased risk of death from an asthma attack' is listed as a side effect. But it's not severe enough a warning for it to contain it's own separate warning, it's just in the side effects. And we have amongst the strictest drig regulations in the worldJenn Tha can tek t'lass outta Yorkshire...! Don't brand me, don't classify me, don't tell me what to wear. I'll be who I want to be, and I'm proud to be me.
