I went to see my pulmonologist/sleep doc today and he pulled a surprise PFT on me. Its ok though...Ive been studying...haha. Anyway even while I was doing the PFT I could tell it felt different. Ive lost about 30lbs since July..trying for 80-100 eventually. I knew weight loss has significant effects on your health, and I knew it would also affect my asthma...but I didnt realize how much until this past month. A) I was sick 2 weeks ago, which of course went straight to the asthma and I ended up on a Medrol dose pack (prednisone's kissing cousin) with a 6 day taper. Two things happened..1, my peak flows were in what apparently used to be my green zone...but I was having definite yellow zone symptoms, including wheezing. 2. The dose pack worked...in GA that has never happened.B) My PFT readings were NORMAL!! My overal lung function has increased...which I am happy about! Ive kind of gone back to the days where I forget to carry my inhaler b/c Im not having many symptoms. For me, I feel like Ive gotten back to my baseline again...finally.I just wanted to celebrate...:-)Ann(wondering where everyone is....its lonely in here)
