Judy PFT means Pulmonary Function Test. In a nutshell, its a basic test where you breathe normally for a few minutes and then inhale as deeply as you can and blow out as long as you can into a mouthpiece. Its all connected to a computer which graphs your volumes, how much you bring in and out and compares it to others in your age groups. It then gives you a score based on how you fall in your comparison group. Its done 3 times and usually they take the best of the 3 tries...which may not necessarily be the first try. Sometimes they will also do this with a chemical called methacholine to see how the lungs react...Ive personally never had that part of the test.
