I hated when I took the test also, but, my problem was I kept laughing, and had to keep stopping. It just struck me as so funny. Here I was trying to blow out as hard as I could, and there was this teeny, tiny, little, elderly, very delicate looking lady, standing over by the desk and she was yelling to me like a drill sargent, and just the looks on her face as she was telling me to Blow, Blow, Blow, just made me laugh hysterically. Finally she told me to stop for awhile, and she started laughing also. From:

When I had the test (I only had one and never had another one because

they complained too much.

They had me inhale deeply and then blow it all out fast and try to get

all the air out at once. They made me do it several times and it

always took me too long to get all the air out so I got disgusted and

never went back for another one.

>Judy PFT means Pulmonary Function Test. In a nutshell, its a basic test where you breathe normally for a few minutes and then inhale as deeply as you can and blow out as long as you can into a mouthpiece. Its all connected to a computer which graphs your volumes, how much you bring in and out and compares it to others in your age groups. It then gives you a score based on how you fall in your comparison group. Its done 3 times and usually they take the best of the 3 tries...which may not necessarily be the first try. Sometimes they will also do this with a chemical called methacholine to see how the lungs react...Ive personally never had that part of the test.
