I forgot to mention to Mike that I had seen my pulmonologist a few weeks ago and during after examining me he couldn't get over how well my lungs sounded; everything seemed to be good and before leaving he told me he wanted for me to have a PFT done and below is the interpretation:Lung Volumes:Measurement of thoracic lung volumes reveals a normal vital capacity, a normal total lung capaity and a decreased residual volume.Spirometry:Spirometry reveals a normal FVC, a normal FEV1, and a normal FEV1/FVC%.DLCO:The diffusing capacity is decreased.Interpretation:Normal airway function. The diffusing capacity is significantly decreased, consistent with the patient's knwon interstitial lung disease. Then back in late September when I saw the PH specialist, her review wasn't too good either. I don't have it in front of me but it also stated how bad my lungs are. The pulmonary artery is the only artery that carries deoxygenated blood...it goes from the heart to the lungs. Likewise the pulmonary vein is the only vein that carries oxygenated blood because it goes from the lungs back to the heart. (Any vessel that carries blood AWAY from the heart is an artery....and any vessel that carries blood TO the heart is a vein). Awesome explanation though...Ann
