Chip in the US things are a bit different and some companies CAN and DO require a prescription for some durable medical equipment-nebs fall into this because they are used to administer medication. It has to do with the insurances they accept...not whether you have it or not....because certain insurances (such as Medicare) require different policies/procedures. At work I have different rules to follow for a medicare patient vs a private pay insurance (this doesnt mean they get better or worse care- the rule differences have to do with appointments, obtaining medications and charting). Some companies may choose to follow the stricter rules to make it less confusing, and it is perfectly ok to do that.Ann
