Guest guest
Hi Cheryl, Thanks! I actually bought the cookbook when it first came out, but have yet to open it ;-( I don't know where our afternoons go (oh, yeah, in-home ABA, etc.) but now you're motivating me to get it out and pick 1 thing to make with my kids this week. How did you modify the pancake recipe? My kids eat pancakes almost every morning. Thanks, Kristy New cookbook I have to tell you all about this cookbook. If you already know about it, great but for those that don't " Deceptively Delicious " is *awesome*. I have to modify some recipes to fit within the diet (although not much) but I have to say, I made 3 of the recipes today and my son loved them all. *Finally* I'm able to get some veggies into my son! I've always tried to sneak veggies in wherever I could but this cookbook has just taken it about 5 steps further than I ever thought of. I actually made a chocolate pudding today that was made from avocados as the main ingredient! It tastes *exactly* like chocolate pudding. I'm making brownies tomorrow - can't wait to see if they are good - that have spinach and carrots. I've made pancakes with sweet potatoes and french toast with pumpkin and my son gobbled em up like they were his normal pancakes and FT. It definitely has me thinking about what other things I can do now! Again, I've only made the 3 things but so far, it's been well worth the money. I did have to modify the pancake recipe because it really didn't work out for me very well so I modified it a bit and now it works perfectly. If you know how to cook, it isn't hard to fix a recipe that doesn't work well. Hope this helps someone! Cheryl
Guest guest
I had to add 3/4 cup of flour and an egg in order to get it to fluff up like a pancake. I didn't use the pumpkin spice/cinnamon since those aren't allowed but I bet it would be good! I think it would probably still fluff up without the egg but I like to have egg in there for the protein and my son isn't sensitive to it. You'll *love* the book! Today my son unknowingly had sweet potatoes, carrots, spinach, chick peas, peas and pumpkin. How great is that?!? Cheryl On Jan 26, 2008, at 9:46 AM, Kristy Nardini wrote: > Hi Cheryl, > > Thanks! Guest guest
I probably should add that I used Heartsmart Bisquick and that might be why it didn't fluff up (but I doubt it since the recipe called for a pancake mix) and it wasn't 3/4 cup of flour, it was 3/4 cup of the Heartsmart Bisquick. I use the Heartsmart because it doesn't have milk. Guest guest
Nope. That's what Dr. G told me, no more cinnamon and no honey. Guest guest
Does someone have a list of what is allowed on the diet? Thanks, Kristy Re: New cookbook Nope. Guest guest
Oh, Kristy, that would be too easy! I don't think there is a comprehensive list in existence. About the closest you are going to find is if you can find a site that talks about CFS diets and even then, I don't know how many different school's of thought there are on it so who knows.
