Guest guest
Correct me if I'm wrong... ....but I *think* cinnamon is one of those border-line food items... it affects some but doesn't others. (Other examples are oatmeal, peanut butter, eggs. If your child is having problems/issues and you do a food diary, cinnamon would be something Dr. G would pull out of the diet to clean it up.) I would think that if you are able to use it, use it sparingly to help avoid it becoming an issue. - in Mobile, AL (My son has been with Dr. G since Oct 2002.) __________________________ Reality lies beyond the horizon... Wonderwegian Fake Cinnamon Does anyone know of a fake cinnamon? I use it all the time and just found out I cannot on the diet.

Guest guest
I second that experience. It wasn't always a problem, we overdid it, we had to give it up. Now once in a while it's ok. --- Wonderwegian & Chile J & C <carriecox@...> wrote: > Correct me if I'm wrong... > > ...but I *think* cinnamon is one of those > border-line food items... it affects some but > doesn't others. Guest guest
Avocados too???? Cr*p. (Sorry). Every time I finally find *something* my child will eat, I find out it's not allowed. Dr. G has admonished me to get more protein into my son and to cut down on potatoes, which he loves. He is he is sensitive to soy and will only eat chicken nuggets and hot dogs. He hates beans too, hates things like hummus (although he does like the black bean chocolate cake -- which Dr. G had some " concerns " about because he was eating so much of it -- sheesh!) He also hates eggs, though he will eat french toast. Cinnamon has been a great " friend " in terms of disguising some of the foods he hates, but I don't use it often. Still...I'm getting really frustrated. Sorry for the rant. Sometimes I feel like my family's life is one big practical joke. Autism () -- the gift that keeps on giving. Guest guest
Could anyone explain in a few words why no cinnamon or avacado? Thanks! Christy > > Does anyone know of a fake cinnamon? Guest guest
Christy, I can't explain specifically why mot cinnamon or avocado, except that Dr. Goldberg must think they are bothering some of the kids. I can, however, share something with you that he told us during our last phone consultation which illustrates the importance of eliminating foods which might trigger our kids' immune systems in the wrong way. He told us that he is seeing in our son... a relationship between his eosinophil count (which can go up when a child is eating a food that bothers them) and his Natural Killer (NK) cell count. He said that it seems that when our son eats foods that bother him, it throws off his eosinophil count AND in correlation his NK count is thrown off, too. He said that puts our son in a position where his immune system is less able to fight off infections. I hope I got that right... the above was by no means an exact quote but the gist of the idea. Anyway, I hope that helps.
