I'd picked the biscuit one up because I like to read mysteries set in England.

One automotive vocabulary difference that wasn't mentioned is our "hood", which you folks call a "bonnet". Here a bonnet is a type of tie-on hat that was worn by women and girls in pioneer days, or even a fancy, highly decorated hat over which women would compete to see whose was the most eye-catching at the annual Easter Parade. There's an old-fashioned American song about that kind of bonnet.
