I smoked socially only because back in the early 60's that was what many did. Then my mother was a heavy smoker and miraculously never had cancer. My father never smoked ... my sister did though and she encouraged me to try cigarettes back then. Finally I stopped when I was in my early 20's .... BUT ... when I met he was a very heavy smoker and you can't imagine the fights I used to have with him. He would wash his car and would never put his windows down and when he would pick me up the smell of that smoke over powered me and yet I had already stopped smoking. Many years later after he had a heart attack he never went back to smoking. I have become so sensitive to perfume and am glad no one wears it anymore .... but do remember when I was in my 20's and went to a few clubs in Manhattan where the smoke was overpowering and don't know how I ever tolerated it.SharonFrom: Subject: cigerette smokeDate:March 27, 2012 10:20:07 PM EDTTo:"asthma " <asthma >My dh smokes near the stove fan.Drives me crazy because I am the on that gets talked to about it from the doctors. I don't know how I survived thru living with my Dad and wood stove heat and cigar smoke (other than freezing my tail off on the other end of the mobile home, needed 4 blankets to get warm. And they had to tell me that there was no way that I felt cold). Even now when he lights up my asthma kicks in more.I sometimes think my asthma has gotten worse than better anyone else feMy 14 year old daughter also gets a talking to about doing any perfume or she has gotten into her dads cologne and I have to keep reminding her that just because she doesn't have that trigger that others do!What also bothers me is the magazines that come with perfume in them and they dont realize what they could trigger in someone who can not breathe that in.
