I need help since I don't know or understand what asthma is since my lung problems are complicated. I also have Sjogren's/Lupus in lungs along with interstitial lung disease, pulmonary fibrosis, pulmonary hypertension (PH) and asthma. When our weather was good I felt wonderful up until it started turning for the worse. Today it's beautiful out and feel fine and realize my lungs react to the weather. When they acted up I would get pain and pressure in the upper center of my chest and then other times would get pain on sides of my body other times constriction in the chest. Spoke to my pulmonologist yesterday and described the pain and he feels that it is asthma and n

ot the PH or Angina that is bothering me but without the RHC or angiogram no one really knows for sure. It's just that it's too risky for me to have those tests done until they will have to. In the meantime he told me to use the ProAir Albuterol when I need it and he also prescribed QVAR. I tried to understand what I was reading but it's all so greek to me. I am on 5mg. of Prednisone (oral) daily and can't ever stop taking it. I'm very frightened about taking the QVAR because of the risk of death from the drug????? Being autoimmune with complications I'm scared to take it ... I need for someone to try to explain everything to me and make it as simple as possible for me to understand and thank you. When I spoke to my pulm. doc., he made nothing out of it and didn't give me the time of day. Also just had a PFT and am very concerned about what it said ..... INTERPRETATION:Normal airway function. The diffusing capacity is significantly decreased, consistent with the patient's known interstitial lung disease. Thank you everyone and hope someone can answer my questions .... I'm very scared to use the inhaler. Sharon/NY/
