Hello. I am a newbie who has been lurking for a couple of weeks. I have been diagnosed with asthma due to an undetected pinpoint leak in our hot water heating system. I had smelled an odd smell in our house for several months. When a wet spot appeared in the carpet, my husband removed seven gallonsof water with a shop vac. I began having shortness of breath and wheezin before the leak was detected. At our small, local hospital, I was given a pulmonary tests. Results of the test resulted in my being prescribed albuterol. A phone call to my allergist (3 1/2 hour drive away from our home) suggested I needed more medication, so my local ARNP prescribed Flovent, also. I usually don't tolerate steroids, but, so far, have not had a problem with the latter. The

carpeting in the room with the leak was removed and the floor sanitized by a professional flood team. New carpet has been laid, and new ceiling tile will also be installed. We are running a new Whirlpool Whispure air cleaner with both charcoal and HEPA filters in that room, now.I have much coughing up of mucous and mucous in my head. I have a constant tickle in my windpipe. A very annoying itching skin is nearly stopped. It is cold here in the northern midwest, and I suspect that breathing cold air makes things worse. My excellent acupuncturist gave me a treatment, last week. Right after that treatment, the release of the mucous by coughing, began. He is confident that he has cured others and that when the mucous is cleared from my lungs, I will be free of the asthma.I am interested in any comments, similar experiences, and information, as, although I have been treated for

years for allergies with sublingual drops, I have not had a problem with asthma until this unfortunate leak in our heating system."Jann"
