Hi all,

I have two children with ADHD. They were only diagnosed a year or two

ago and only because I took them for a private assessment. That was

back in the UK and I am now in Switzerland.

My 15 year old son was very hyper as a small child and always

difficult. he is now much calmer. He takes Concerta to help him focus

at school.

My daughter was the easier baby but that didn't last! Now she is

really challenging. None of the medications have helped her

whatsoever, not even in combinations. Although, Clonidine does help

her to sleep which is a blessing!

She still wets the bed as well as some occasional daytime wetting. She

is dreadfully impulsive and moody and can not be left unsupervised.

She is always " in your face " and has dreadful difficulty making and

keeping friends. On the positive side she is bright and talented in

many things (although she doesn't persevere with them!)

We are a close and loving family but really struggle with these

problems. The whole family are finding her very hard work indeed and I

am actually beginning to wonder if something else is going on, such as

Aspergers?

Our extended family find it very hard to understand and in some cases

even believe there is a problem!

I am hoping to find a good consultant here in Switzy and get some help

in the form of counselling, social skills training or something. Also,

I have heard good things about neurofeedback.

If anyone has any suggestions I am eager to hear them!

Also, my daughter feels very much alone with the ADHD as not many

girls are diagnosed with it. She may benefit from chatting with

another girl with similar problems.

I have CFS/ME/Fibromyalgia and have just been diagnosed with

underactive thyroid and adrenal glands.

Hope to hear from some of you soon,

jodi2ben
