Guest guest
My 8 year old son has a bit of decay starting at multiple areas in his mouth. His dentist really made me feel bad about our decisions, such as no flouride treatments or toothpaste, no sealants, no nitrous oxide. Currently he needs a filling in one spot. He uses a product called dyract with is a compomer, a resin and glass ionomer. Any thoughts would greatly be appreciated if anyone has any experience with this product or any others for fillings. I'm grateful at least he doesn't use amalgams! Thanks a lot! Katy, 's mom
Guest guest
I'm interested, too. Our daughter also has a cavity and I haven't had the nerve to schedule the " filling " - just am anxious about it- the numbing, the filling itself and all of it. Guest guest
My son had cavities at the age of 2! So I researched benign filling materials and found a company called DRM Laboratories in Branford, CT or toll free (888) DRM-BOND. They sell a line of products called Diamond Lite biocompatible white filling material. We used it on my son's baby teeth and it worked pretty well, but it is designed for adult teeth. Here's their web site: http://www.drmco.com/ I wouldn't let your dentist make you feel bad. Flouride is a known toxin. Good Luck! To: csb-autism-rx From: katydave2@... Guest guest
Also Google Restore toothpaste, it's has a substance that really helps remineralize teeth and can fill in the little cavities over time if the bacteria and acidity in the mouth get corrected. Guest guest
I would urge caution in using Restore Toothpaste since it contains Sodium Lauryl Sulphate (SLS). The Environmental Working Group's (EWG) " Skin Deep: Cosmetic Safety Reviews " publication indicate that SLS has links to skin irritation, organ toxicity, developmental/reproductive toxicity, neurotoxity, endocrine disruptors, biochemical/cellular changes, possible mutations and cancer, etc. My daughter was recently having problems with canker sores, and our naturopath asked whether I had checked her toothpaste for SLS. Sure enough it contained SLS. We switched to an SLS-free toothpaste, and she hasn't had a canker sore since then (almost a month and a half, after previously problems on a daily basis). After reading more about SLS in the EWG's publication and on Dr. Mercola's website, I checked all our personal care products and was upset to find that almost everything contained SLS. We have since replaced everything. Guest guest
Hi. I can't really give advice since I don't have expertise in this area. I do know that our child's oral health seemed to improve as we healed her gut, improved her diet, addressed her emotional stress, etc. Even so, we were still having problems with canker sores until we started using an SLS-free toothpaste. That seemed to take care of it for us. Sorry I can't offer more suggestions!
