Guest guest
You can give both. Nystatin is a non-systemic yeast killer so it only kills yeast with direct contact and usually does not cause possible liver issues. Guest guest
Hi Rohini, I did it and I think it helped a bit. Nistatin is suposedly (spelling?) not sistemic, it acts just through direct contact and not absorved. I´d also consider to rise fluco dose...what´s his dose currently? > > Hi, > I was wondering if any kids are on 2 antifungals simulataneously? My 4 > yr old was started on diflucan a month back. Guest guest
Thanks, Cheryl and . I will plan on starting nystatin. The diflucan I give is compounded at 10 mg/mL, and I give him 5 ml once daily. How hgh can one go safely? The nystatin is also compounded 2000,0000/ml and I am supposed to give 5 ml thrice a day. Do these doses look okay? Is it possible that the diflucan can stop working after a month? I heard of this product called threelac. Should I switch to that? One thing I also notice is that whenever he falls sick with cold/congestion, his behaviors get gets really bad...stimming, emotional, irritable, mouthing and loss of focus. He is 4 yr old with ASD and though he is verbal, his expressive speech is limited. Any input will be helpful to me. Thanks, Rohini > > > > Hi, > > I was wondering if any kids are on 2 antifungals simulataneously? > My 4 > > yr old was started on diflucan a month back. Guest guest
Rohini hi, Before I started I took threelac myself before giving it t my child. I ended up inthe emergency room with UTI the first I ever got. I give 75mg of diflucan TO MY 4YR old. I don't know if you use SSRI'S but every time I have uped the dose I notice die-off. Serotonin I beieve increases the amount of antifungals in the body. That's what I have observed. Hope it helps. Kavita rohi_03 <rohi_03@...> wrote: Thanks, Cheryl and . Guest guest
I would bet that behavior is related to his illness. Hopefully once he gets over the illness, he gets back to where he was. If not, I would suspect another type of infection that is propelling his immune system. (Side note: for us, I correlate certain behaviors with bacterial infection.) Hope this helps, > > Hi, > I was wondering if any kids are on 2 antifungals simulataneously? My 4 > yr old was started on diflucan a month back. Guest guest
Hi Kavita, No, I haven't started my son on any other medications like SSRIs. I know that diflucan is a CYP2C9 inhibitor and could alter the plasma concentrations of drugs that are metabolized through that enzyme route. Just curious - what SSRI are you using and what benefits did you see? Thanks, Rohini > > > > > > Hi, > > > I was wondering if any kids are on 2 antifungals > simulataneously? > > My 4 > > > yr old was started on diflucan a month back. Guest guest
Hi Rohini, Your son seems to be very similar to mine, I´d do a cormprehensive stool test at Genova Lab in search for other infections, and do an A toxine for clostridium difficile and culture and sensitive in reg lab if available. These were very revealing to us, my son ended up with flagyl, erhitromicine and ketoconazole altoghether. I´d also check ASO and H.Pylori. I think 50mg of diflucan is TOO low, if this is true, it may had happened that in a beggining you lowered the yeast levels, but they become a bit resistant, I´m not sure. You may test alt/ast before raise dose and after 2 weeks you did it, then every 45-60 days. I think you can raise dose to 400mg before hepatic risk, please check this. hope this helped > > > > > > Hi, > > > I was wondering if any kids are on 2 antifungals > simulataneously? > > My 4 > > > yr old was started on diflucan a month back. Guest guest
Hi Kavita, Very interesting, may you let me know a little bit more about your SSRI experience, drug, dose, other changes you´ve seen, sleep, bowel movements, improvements, etc. Thank you in advance. > > Rohini hi, > I don't know if you use SSRI'S but every time I have uped the dose I notice die-off. Guest guest
Hi Rohini and , The SSRI given depends on the child and your doc is the best guide. I would suggest going thru the file section and read up on serotonin. So far I have seen very good results with very small dosages.
