Guest guest
Hi , Ceftin is cephalosporin -- a wide-spectrum antibiotic -- and *should* cover it, although it's not the drug of choice for a UTI (which is Septra, I believe). Guest guest
Hi , I don't personally have experience with this, but a friend's daughter had a URI a year ago when she was five. She had to run to the bathroom a lot because when she needed to go it was urgent and she was experiencing the need to go frequently. It also burned when she went to the bathroom and she even experienced a burning/itching feeling when she did not feel the urge to go. If your son doesn't experience any of these symptoms and his fever stays down, he should be OK. An EMT friend of mine said that URIs are very common and usually go unnoticed and undiagnosed because people aren't even aware that they have them. They just clear up on their own. Drinking lots of fluids is a good idea too. Hope this helps. April Question re cloudy urine > Hi all - > > Does quite cloudy urine mean that a UTI is likely? Guest guest
, Here's a link to a great little info page on UTIs (I just love Dr. Greene's website)... you can have them without having any symptoms at all. If you suspect one, it's as easy as a urine sample to check it out. For little boys who can't " go in the cup " yet, I would insist on trying a urine collection bag instead of the catheter. http://www.drgreene.org/body.cfm?id=21 & action=detail & ref=1217 Caroline
Guest guest
My poor guy had a terrible UTI several weeks ago. He didn't seem to have any symptoms at all until one day it suddenly became very painful for him to pee. By the time we got to the doctor a few hours later, he was peeing blood so dark that it was frightening. When the doctor asked him if his urine had looked or felt differently in the past few days, he said it felt fine but was a bit cloudy (he's a teen and long potty trained). UTIs can be uncommon and dangerous in boys and is easily tested, so I'd suggest that you get it checked out soon just in case. Another possibility is yeast overgrowth. I've heard some people say they see cloudly urine when yeast is really high. Gaylen
Guest guest
You know, I thought about the possibility of yeast since the foreskin is intact. That was the suspicion I felt almost immediately. If you think Ceftin would cover a UTI (?), then I could request a urine culture and be sure to ask that they include checking for yeast?
