You might at first pick your battles and allow him a bit more fruit as

you're stopping the soy and trying new things. For baked goods, I've found

that

The Gluten-Free Pantry mixes are great -- _http://www.glutenfree.com/_

(http://www.glutenfree.com/) . Some use soy flour so read the ingredients that

are

listed on the website. You can substitute oil and juice/water for milk in the

mixes. Their " buttermilk " biscuits are really great with a substitute of

half oil and half apple juice for the 3/4 cup recommended buttermilk. If you

son is allowed nuts, you can boost nutrient level and calories by substituting

various nut butters or ground nuts for the butter or shortening recommended

for various recipes.

Hi Everyone-

We had our phone conference with Dr. G tonight, so productive and

insightful- it's amazing!! And, were informed that Bobby has an

allergy to soy (and dairy, too-and peas (although peas haven't been

eaten in a looooong time)...and so begins our even bigger quest as

now he can't eat soy foods- (someone thanks, you saw the allergy

panel approaching suggested we stop soy and see what happens as far

as his eating) so now we are stoppong the soy and see if his eating

improves-

Here's my question- Bobby attends school full time 8:30 - 2:30-(yes,

the public school system in NY (CPSE) is that great; what snacks,

aside from apples/bananas-which are limited- can we send him in with-

oreos, Lays chips and everything else we've been sending, with

limits, are excluded, as fruits are limited and he won't touch a

peanut butter (no nut allergies) or meat sandwich, and other snacks

are appearing to be off the list- can we send him in with...although

non-verbal, Bobby has a definate desire of what he does and doesn't

want and what he wants is usually what his friend is having(obviously

not non soy/dairy).

Any non soy/dairy suggestions are appreciated-

And, thanks in advance for all the support and suggestions, you all

have been a well needed life line for me:)

Hi Jenn,

I give my son, frozen red grapes. I just put them on a sandwich back

inside an an EZ-Freeze container container, non-frozen grapes are good

too.

Good luck,

Argie
