I found that when I was sailing my asthma was much better. I was sailing on a Tall Ship (which I think does go to Cornish harbours quite a bit), so there was a lot of work involved in setting the sails, and climbing the rigging. My asthma was completely fine when I was at sea, and it wasn't till I got home I realised I'd taken TWO empty salbutamol inhalers!Jenn Tha can tek t'lass outta Yorkshire...! I have sailed for many years, being a Cornishman, but we didn't call our toilet `the heads', we simply called ours . . . . a bucket!

I miss my boats, when I began to get really ill with my breathing I could not spend the time or energy needed to maintain the motor cruiser I had at the time. I didn't use it for two years so in the end I regretfully sold it.

Two months later my consultant suggested I take up water activities such as sailing, he stated that it would help my breathing considerably. Too damn late!

Now I only have a small dingy, it's sinking fast into my garden full of rain water, but as I'm too breathless at the moment I may just let it sink and turn it into a garden water feature!

I found it strange when I went sailing last year that we were calling the toilets 'heads'.

And it sounds odd hearing a toilet referred to as a 'rest room', too

I am sorry Madeline, but the subject line tickles my funny bone. I've been on enough boats that I refer to a restroom as 'the head.' I keep reading the subject as "Anyone have a spare restroom?" Laughing myself silly.

I get horrible, just horrible sinus infections and my head feels like it has been cracked wide open, so I understand where you are coming from, unfortunately I need to keep my head as I don't know where to get another one. LOL>

Ok. It seems that a combination of iv magnesium, iv salumedrol, an epi injection, nebulized albeterol and atrovent, and 15 liters/min of heliox may open up ones lungs, but the next day is worse than any hangover I have ever heard of. Just got back from ct as my eyes are not focusing very well. Although, I font think it is anything except a drug overload. On the positive, my lungs are much better. I will be out of here in the morning after we get this head ache under control. Hugs to all. Sorry I was a bit gripey yesterday.MadelineConnected by DROID on Verizon Wireless
