For me, I will get a sore throat for a few days along with an increase in post nasal/sinus drainage. My voice gets deeper and I cough more than normal. I rarely wheeze audibly..sometimes the doc can hear a little wheeze. About 3 days after my sore throat appears my peaks start dropping. And then after that I usually end up with bronchitis. I pretty much "shut down" when I have a flare...I have an absolute psychological need to take a bath...sometimes several times a day. Sometimes this starts before I get sick...and Ive learned to regard this as a sign. I cant explain it but it happens every time I get sick and I cant resist. The rest of my time I try to spend on the couch sleeping or drinking highly caffeinated beverages b/c the caffeine can help relax things a bit. I usually end up on prednisone and am fully functional again in 3-4 days. My upper back muscles get tight & my ribs get sore. After the prednisone burst is over, I get really sore muscles in the base of my neck, upper arms, ribs and sometimes in my abdomen which goes away once I recover from the prednisone...
