My Drs always get pissed at me, I said as long as I have legs that work I will use the bathroom, I have always done so, and no harm has ever been done, even with my heart monitor, as long as they walk me to the bathroom. LOL. To: [email]asthma

Yup, a bedpan is used for people who cannot get up and go the bathroom themselves or if they need to collect your urine to be tested.

The last time I was in the emergency room they wanted me to use this flimsy plastic bedpan, it was bending even when you just held it in your hand, I told them no thanks , I will go to the bathroom on my own in the bathroom, had a argument, but, eventually the Dr. let me go to the bathroom as long as they walked me down there. They used to be metal, now flimsy plastic, what a mess that would have been, what a shame that they are trying to save money by making a bigger mess, does that make sense to you? LOL>

Here in the US a bedpan is used for people who can't get up to go to the bathroom.

Hi all, I realise this may seem a strange question, but please answer if you can. Is a bedpan called the same in other parts of the world, like the USA & Europe? If not, do you use another name and more to the point, do you know what a bedpan is?

Please don't be shy in your reply, if I get no answers I won't have anything to go on . . . . . . .

Many thanks,

Cheers from Mike (Chip) Chapman
