I have the trifecta: Lyme, mold illness and mercury poisoning, and we've used a Venta humidifier/air washer for years. Nothing to feed the mold beasts, since the moisture comes off of plastic disks. Not cheap, but they honor their warranty and humidify nicely if you follow the instructions properly.

We got ours at Ace Hardware to also get a coupon, but I see now that they're more common with online resellers now.

The downside is that you get to see how disgusting your tap water is by the sediment left behind... ;-p
