, it'll be okay! He's sick and I know it's hard to see it, but

it will be over soon. He'll be back to his old self in no time. Are

you giving him anything?

Thanks Cheryl, I just needed a pat on the back, I guess. I wasn't

giving him anything until last night, and I gave him a cough

suppressant-Triaminic cough & runny nose- so he could sleep

(unfortunately he woke up at 4 a.m. with wet pajamas, but went right

back down)

I just hate giving him *extra* medicine because of all the other meds

he takes per Dr. G.

Hey -

It really will be okay! My 6yr old (well, last year

when he was just about to turn 5) - who has been OFF

protocol now and off meds - got sick about 9 months

after going off antivirals, and he was sick for 5

months with bad fatigue, had some awful cognitive

dysfunction, several things that had me scared and

terrified and in a constant state of fear. It was

really a bad rough time. BUT. I learned

something that I think may carry me through some

future rough times as a result. Because he got

better. He did so without meds. I think he would

also have been ASD had he had as many hits as his

brother did, and I think the protocol early helped him

develop more typically.

Now when my boys get sick, and they regress or change

and it seems like I'm losing them, after I get over

the freakout I have while all this is happening, I

find myself slammed into memory as to how far we've

come and instead of doubting that meds had anything to

do with their improvements (because they do pretty

well now without meds although I believe they would

likely be better off WITH them), I celebrate that they

were able to have them for as long as they did and I

find myself so grateful that they had them. Because

nothing reminds me that this is an illness than seeing

how different they are when they get sick.

It's even worse when they're little and have had less

time on the protocol (mine had almost 3 yrs on meds).

In the first couple of years they were so reactive

that every food mistake or cold or infection they got

seemed like the biggest setback. If I had had a

crystal ball, I would have tried to relax more (I'm

barely beginning to learn that!).... yeah right! :)

Give him whatever you can to make him comfortable. No lone likes

being sick and it doesn't feel good. Hope he gets well soon!

Thanks to and Cheryl! I think something else may

be " brewing " in my son, like a sinus or ear infection. Anyways, we

are headed to his local pediatrician in the morning.

I too am on the protocol for elevated HHV6 and EBV, and

sometimes my brain (and my memory) is on another planet. It gives me

a whole new insight to what our little ones are going through.

Thank you for both taking the time to add your experiences-it was

VERY comforting to read. In any event, thanks for all you kind and

encouraging words. It's good to know I'm not losing it completely :)
