Judy, I have a question: Does Bob's asthma/COPD tend to act up in extremes of hot or cold temps even with short outdoor exposure time? If so, then he really needs to listen to reason and stay indoors. If not, unless he's outside extended periods, it may be better to let him be the judge of how much outdoor activity he can tolerate. My lungs tolerate some outdoor activity even in high ozone levels, but I have to be careful. Sometimes, no matter how much we care for our loved ones, we have to let them be to deal with their own health issues. With his age, however, even short exposure to really warm or cold air might not be good for him. I'll say this directly to him:Bob, please be careful in very warm or very cold air. Having one ailment, asthma, is bad enough with different temp ranges. You have

asthma/COPD, which is double trouble. When you are out, pay attention to any symptoms and keep an inhaler in your pocket at all times. Take care both of you, To: asthma Cc: AspergillusGroup Sent: Friday, May 25, 2012 7:04 AM Subject: Re: heat

Mike --Can you do a favor by writing something man-to-man that would help my husband, Bob, understand why -- with his asthma.COPD, he can't go out in extremes of heat and cold. I think he would like to kill the messenger (me.)

Obviously, you stay in during the heat because it's in your best self-interest to do so. Heat is measured in different numbers Fahrenheit here across the pond, so I will Google it.

Bob just turned 75. As I recall, I think t you're in the same generation. If you reply to the group, I'll be sure Bob reads what you send. Thanks,Judy K in Florida

Ain't it blooming marvellous! The sun comes out, the temp rises to 26 degrees in the shade, and immediately my breathing begins to resemble a leaky accordion being played by a one armed, tone deaf politician!

Can't go out coz the air instantly disappears around me and I turn in to a lobster fresh out the pan!

Oh the joys of respiratory problems!

Head for the preds, the nebs and the O2 mask again.

Cheers from Mike (Chip) Chapman
