So I went to a different doctor the other day because my regular doctor just decided that he didn't know what more to do with me (even though he's tried to do very little) He wanted me to go to a pulmonologist....which I'm ok with...but I couldn't even get in until the end of July. And I really kinda like breathing. So I thought in the mean time, I'd go visit another doctor. This one is an internal specialist...so although not a pulmonologist, a little more knowledgeable than just my family doc on the matter.

He is pretty sure I'm on the right track and that it is asthma. But he sent me up to the hospital for spiromitry testing. Still waiting on those results.

Anyway, he told me they would want me to not use any asthma meds the day of the testing because they would want me at my worst for the testing. He also took me off advair and put me on dulera. He said that advair is just a pretty old medicine and just doesn't work as well as some of the newer stuff. So I used the advair (before he swithced me to dulera at my appointment on Monday morning) Then I didn't us anything else all day Monday and went to my appointment Tuesday morning. They give me a breathing treatment during the testing. By Tuesday evening, I was coughing up so much stuff it was crazy. Normally I just have a very dry non productive cough. I didn't have any other illness symptoms other than by evening I was so exhausted from coughing so much. I used the dulera for the first time Tuesday evening. Most of the day Tuesday, my chest felt so tight too. But yesterday morning when I woke up, I was still coughing up quite a bit of junk (I know...gross...I'm sorry) but the chest tightness was gone. I coughed most of the day still but was able to sleep most of the night. I did wake up once and had to use my rescue inhaler because I was coughing so much.

This morning, still coughing up junk. We'll see how the day goes.

Anyway, my question mostly is, is this because of going all day Monday without any meds? Or have I developed bronchitis on top of it all? Could it possibly be a reaction to stopping the advair? Also, how quickly should I be noticing improvement with the dulera?

Thank you!
