Posted by: " sareeh928 " sareeh928@... sareeh928 Date: Mon May 30, 2011 3:04 am ((PDT)) My DAN doctor said Penicilimine is a distant cousin to penicillin & that to discontinue if a rash appears. My son had about 3 rounds of penicillin (back to back) when he got his first ear infection at 14 months. He didn't break out into a rash until the last round. After that he was prescribed azithromycin wihout any rash. In the coming year, up until he was almost three years old, he probably got 8 more rounds of azithromycin. My son hasn't had any antibiotics since before his third birthday and he is now five and one month, except for one round of vancomycin for a C. Diff. Infection this past May. I am wondering if anyone knows of other kids who had reactions with penicillin and did okay with penicillimine? Also if there is a reaction, is it life threatening? Thanks in advance. ..
