Guest guest
Sheryl, Hi. Jen K here again. i am still catching up but noticed that you are having tested more than once for bone age? Emma's growth has fallen below her usual below 3% growth curve and we are waiting for her repeat blood work from the lab? I asked her endocrinologist about repeating her bone age test and he said that it only has to be done once and that we already know from that xray that the growth is delayed. her previous GH has come back normal althougth she does have some thyroid abnormalities. We have not done the extended GH test as the initial simple serum GH was normal. I can't recall right now how delayed her bone growth was but it was only about 18 months as i remember. She had it done at 4 years of age. She is totally tube fed but recieves adequate calories so that should not be an issue(?). Do you or anyone else out there feel i should be looking into this more? Should she have her bone age done again? Of all the tests we do to our kids that is probally one of the easiest ones! thank you, Jen K wife to mike and mom to our two chargers emma almost 7 and diane
Guest guest
Hi Jen, Jack tested low for IGF1 but his GH test showed that his GH is within normal levels. However, as his growth is very slow(well below 3rd centile) he is going to start a trial course of GH shots to see if it makes a difference. His bone age is also delayed and has only been tested once. I don't think they have any plans to repeat the x-ray. (Lesley in England's son) has GH shots and is nor GH deficient but it has made a big difference to his growth.(I'v got this right Lesley???) We are just fortunate that Jack has a wonderful endocrinologist and consultant paed. who are willing to do all they can for Jack and are happy to prescribe the shots as I know they are very expensive!!
