Sheryl,

At least they know you won't give up when it comes to what's best for ! That wouldn't bother me a bit, I'd wear it like a badge!

I have a new title!

Hey all, I was subbing at our high school today as an associate in one of the resource rooms. There was a large turn over in staff members this year, so most of them don't know who I am. As I was talking to the teacher, she said that she would be gone the next two days and she wanted me to get some information clarified from the AEA Consultant (same one that testified against me in the hearing). I just mentioned that I was comfortable talking to her, but I didn't know how comfortable she would be with me. Then the teacher said, "Oh yeah, your the law suit mom." I just laughed out loud and asked if that is what I was known as around there. She didn't have much to say after that. I simply told her that I was just fighting for my child's rights and whatever she had heard, she needed to remember that there are two sides to every story. And I must not have been off base, because I won. Later as I walked through the hall, I heard another staff member ask who I was and the other said, that is the mom that filed the law suit. So, I guess that is my new title around here. I will be working in that building until Christmas break. Things could get fun. I did notice that the Superintendent tried his best to avoid me. When I did get a chance to say hello to him, he had difficulties making eye contact with me. Oh well, it doesn't bother me a bit. has missed the last two days because she came down with pneumonia. But, today she was back with full energy. Her dad had her most of the day and he decided by the time I got home, she is feeling well enough to go back to school. My interpretation was that she was just a little bit active for him....way to go Jess! Sheryl,

When Kriste was in high school, I was a fighter for her education. They

wanted to give her a certificate of attendance, which is nothing like a

diploma!! The special ed super knew me by 1st name basis before the county

board decided that they would pay her tuition to attend a school that could

provide her an education with a diploma. I was told by the guidance counselor

in hischool that I needed to get a grip on my problems before I tried to deal

with my daughter's!! My problems where all the do with my daughter's!!!!!!!

Within two weeks of that comment, Kriste was attending White Station High

School in Memphis, TN (only 30 minutes away from home). The super was

invited by me to attend a tour of the high school but he just happened to be

going out of town that day. But when I met with him after my tour, I took a

tape recorder with me to the meeting. When I proceeded to tape our meeting,

I was informed that that wouldn't be necessary-that Kriste would be

transferred with the week!! So--I had dealt with my " problem " and solved it!!

Parents, get all your guns ready with entering school, It will be as hard as

the first few years of your child's life. If you don't know the law re:

" " handicapped " school children, you can be snowed by the system.

(the reason I put a ? behind chargers is that Kriste has never been diagnosed

but the neonate md when Josh was born believes she is)
