Rebekah,

This is only anecdotal - We have an adult ADD that has almost the same workup

profile[blood, urine, hair test etc] as his 2y younger PDD-NOS sister. I was

ready to ground him for life in high school bc he is soooo smart and came home w

these disgusting report cards. He refuses any type of interventions so has had a

difficult young adult life so far. I can see this same profile in all 5 of our

children in one form or another - ear and tonsil infections as little ones,

intolerance to foods, allergies, thyroid trouble, perfectionist tendencies,

oppositional behavior ++++ etc. In the next generation, a little guy who had

lead/mercury problems as a toddler is now almost 13y. He came out of acute

symptoms w chelation, entered school w no supports but is certainly adhd. My

efforts to suggest further chelation have not been heard. Three others have been

through constant ent infections as youngsters-t and a's; one w add label and

trouble reading. All vaccinated except the adhd whose mom quit when he was

~12mos and his younger brother w essentially none. This younger brother, now 10y

is by far the healthiest of the crowd. I'm from a huge extended family- the

pattern repeats in many of my siblings and their children. The toxic overload

from whatever cause certainly causes distress. Please don't take this on as

personally passing the 'disease.' The tendencies reside in all of us for certain

patterns but our toxic world, inattentive medical framework and the refusal to

look beyond 'genetic' is crippling another generation. You have clued in on the

important factors whether your doc can hear it or not! With the help of folks

like and all the other brilliant minds who are constantly looking for

causes/remedies, it will be resolved just like the handwashing fiasco of the

18th century. It just a travesty that so many of our children are maimed in the

'discovery' process.

your posts.

is also borderline Aspergers. Navigating doctors, supplements, research, and

getting through the day can be exhausting. But especially frustrating watching

your child experience it and not feel the burden for passing it on. We are both

on LDN and are SO appreciative for this amazing drug!

cannot find any empirical evidence of this. I have read all of the research that

I can get my hands on but have not been able to find any obvious genetic links

or fMRI's with identical patterns (btwn ADD and ASD). We have a great ADD doctor

here in Seattle, but he does not see the link between ADD and ASD. For my own

purposes, as well as increasing awareness of this linkage, I would love to

understand how Dr. McCandless drew the conclusion in her practice and in her

research. I would also love to see any additional research that you believe

makes the case for the link.
