I will know on Monday after I see his pediatrician, I will?be sure to let you

know the outcome? Thanks, I was hoping someone had heard how the outcomes were on

the NIH trials of Minocycline for regressive autism and its associated

inflamation of the brain. I?really do hope that just 5 days of the prednisone

doesn't blow him up too bad.

Thanks again Robyn for your input. I think we may be on the right road finally

to solving these horrible migranes.

Re: News on Minocycline?

I would be interested in hearing your experience if you start this drug. My 7

year old has migraines and was treated with a five day trial of prednisone for

brain inflammation. It stopped the cluster migraines, but he still gets one or

two per month. Your son will probably experience some puffiness and weight gain,

but this should reverse when he's off the drug. I was actually surprised by how

much weight my son gained in such a short time; however, he was on Depakote for

seizures and that contributed to the weight gain.

Good luck,

Robyn

Have any of you heard any of the results for using minocycline in regressive

autism? I am very interested in this, as my son has inflamation in the frontal

lobe region, and he has suffered from onset with severe ongoing migranes. If any

one knows any infor I would be grateful.

After what seems like a zillion different meds to treat chronic migranes, his

pediatrician has put him on 5 day trial of prednisone. If it cools down the

headaches, he is willing to look at other meds that could treat the inflamation,

minocycline was one I have been watching.

Thanks,

Rollie

I hope your son feels better soon. Our peds neuro prescribed Imitrex nasal spray

for Noah's migraines and it works great. It's horrible to see them in so much

pain.

Good luck,

Robyn

Imitrex works great, but as soon as it wears off 3 hrs later his migrane comes

screaming through.

Thats why we are taking a second look at the whole brain issue in respect to

inflamation in the areas where there are signs of hyperfusion in the frontal

lobes where he reports all of his pain.

This is where the minocycline I hope will work. So far since Thursday on the

prednisone he has not had any headaches. Its only a 5 day trial to see if the

prednisone confirms the headaches are a result of inflamation. Step 2 will be to

come up with another med, not a steroid to reduce inflamation, that is why I was

curious about the minocycline.

Thanks again Robyn.
