Guest guest
These recipes are from a mom by the name of J. West in Silver City, NM. Enjoy! “Popsicle” blends - GFCFSFCFEFYF no dyes or artificials Measure total amount needed for the dishes or popsicle molds so you won’t waste the ingredients. The Darifree is a *dry* measurement (not mixed with water). “Fudgesicle” or chocolate “ice cream”: 1/3 cup Vance’s DariFree 1 jar strained Pears ¼ cup Nestle’s Cocoa 3 heaping tablespoons xylitol Enough Pear juice to make the measure of the bowls or molds. Blend smooth in the blender (just a few seconds), pour into molds & freeze. If making as “ice cream” give a few minutes to soften so it can be eaten with a spoon. Other flavors: Orange “Cream” 1/3 cup Vance’s DariFree 1 jar strained Pears 3 heaping tablespoons xylitol Enough 100% pure orange juice to make the measure of the bowls or molds. Strawberry “Cream” 1/3 cup Vance’s DariFree 1 jar strained Pears 3 heaping tablespoons xylitol 8-10 fresh or frozen strawberries Enough Pear juice to make the measure of the bowls or molds. Banana “Cream” 1/3 cup Vance’s DariFree 1 jar strained Pears 3 heaping tablespoons xylitol 1 medium – large banana Enough Pear juice to make the measure of the bowls or molds. Strawberry Banana 1/3 cup Vance’s DariFree 1 jar strained Pears 3 heaping tablespoons xylitol 6 fresh or frozen strawberries 1 small-medium banana Enough Pear juice to make the measure of the bowls or molds. Guest guest
These sound yummy! On another list I'm on, they recently had a discussion about Xylitol. They were saying it needs to be introduced slowly (it can cause tummy distress, and for some, it aggravates strep conditions/PANDAS), and that some just won't ever tolerate it. An alternative that doesn't seem to be as upsetting to the system is stevia. Stevia is highly concentrated, so some experimentation might be necessary. I use stevia in my daily herbal tea, and I've noticed that some taste more bitter than others ;-( My favorite is the packets that come in a box from Trader Joes. Guest guest
I tried stevia with my son and it seemed to bother his sleep cycle. I'll probably try it again down the road to make sure, but I thought I'd throw that possibility out there to see if stevia has bothered any other children. Guest guest
My son won't touch anything with stevia in it with a 10' pole! Hates the stuff and I have to agree with him. To me, it tastes like artificial sugar. I tried it for the first time when I was pregnant and I couldn't get past the taste. I tried it again with liquid for my son and he *hated* it. I wish he did like it, it's certainly cheaper than xylitol! Guest guest
My son doesn't tolerate stevia either. It seems to nauseate him.
