Guest guest
Thank you for forwarding this article. I am thankful for Autism Speaks and I love everyone in the family. Autism Speaks is doing a lot not only in research but also going state by state to start getting services for our children. This is really important - especially in our state of Ohio. Ted Strickland, our democratic governor, has decided to cut medicaid funding for services for autism (e.g. ABA). This was a major blow since I actually volunteered on his campaign. I feel like I have been cheated on. Regarding Autism Speaks, I think Mr. is being very smart in his approach to raising funding for research and giving the organization a reputable name. If they came right out and said that vaccines damaged their grandson, they would get nowhere fast. To be honest, I don't know what caused my children to have autism but I do suspect the heavy schedule of vaccinations (especially the Hep B at birth) combined with their genes that come from a family with a lot of autoimmune disorders. At this point, I want research done in all areas. I also want the CDC and AMA to lighten up on the vaccination schedule and give only a few vaccines before the age of 1 and only give ONE at a time. A vaccine schedule should be determined by what is best for the child, not the convenience of saving costs by scheduling it during typical doctor/wellness checkups. Guest guest
Jill-I also have a history of autoimmune disorders in my family and suspect that it's the " genetic predisposition " that Dr. G talks about. I think it's deplorable that the governor of Ohio, Ted Strickland, has chosen?to cut medicaid funding for autism services. Here in New York we are being faced with a shortage of adult programs for our son who is now aging out of the school system in June. We are facing long wait lists and very few programs at a time when the autism population is soaring across the country! My son is only the first wave of this epidemic and it's hard to imagine what will happen as the increasingly larger numbers will be aging out of school! We truly have a crisis in our country and the response is not to cut back on Medicaid funding for the most vulnerable people in society! I think Autism Speaks is an important voice for our children at this crucial point when services are so desperately needed. Gayle Re: Fwd: Autism Speaks Censors ??
