Guest guest
What do typical 4 year olds eat?! ;-) Kristy Sample Diet ( per Dr. G's guidelines) Hi All, Would anyone be willing to post or email me offline a *typical* weekly diet of their child? Some days, I feel like we are doing good, pushing the protein, little bit of carb (NO WHOLE GRAINS) and limited sugar. Then I'll start to think " Oh, if he can have rice krispies with soy milk, why not soy ice cream with a wafer cone? " ...Or, " Oh, he's had a lot of protein today and enough veggies, how about a chocolate chip cookie?(gasp) " And then I feel like it could become a slippery slope of justifying what foods are OK per Dr. Goldberg's guidelines. Somedays I just want my son to eat like any typical 4 year old I know all the rules, I am just looking for some new ideas (or maybe the menu is getting redundant). Thanks in advance to all the Moms and Dads-you truly have been lifesavers to our family!!
Guest guest
Ditto on what you said. I am having quite a time with my son's diet, also. He's starting to have constipation issues, which he has never had. Cutting out the whole grains and cutting down on fruit has made it difficult for him to get the fiber. He's actually started to eat a few new veggies--cucumbers and red and yellow bell peppers--along with his usual carrots, but it doesn't seem to be enough fiber. I wonder how much sugar is actually in the peppers. They taste sweet to me. I'd love to know which restaurant chains have been good matches for the diet. We have found that Outback Steakhouse and Chili's have been decent places to eat out. We ask both places to hold the BBQ sauce and we bring our own sauce to pour on top. We go ahead and get French fries with it. Apparentely, most French fries are ok. I'd love to know where else people have gone to eat. Guest guest
I find most high end Italian Restaurants are willing to work with you. The sauces are generally low in preservatives and you can request dairy free products. a local restaurant that we frequent even allowed me to explain the diet to the chef that then requested we call ahead and he would prepare a meal. most of the chains use prepared sauces and such and the kitchen staff does not have a clue as to the ingredients.
