Guest guest
The Autism Special on Larry King with J-Mac just finished ... I want to know .... who is Dr Jerry Kartinzel and does he know Dr Goldberg? Dr Kartinzel is working with McCarthy and things he said reminded me alot of what Dr G says. He also has a son with Autism - we need to make the kids healthier - remove the pain and uncomfortable feeling and you have a kid who wants to learn underneath. - CFIDS and Autism - why more boys than girls? Estrogen may protect the girls. Testosterone may make males more suceptable to Viral Toxins doris land

Guest guest
He works with the Thoughtful House in Texas, www.thoughtfulhouse.org They have a team of doctors and a nutritionist that looks at the whole child. I really like their approach. That said, they often want to do some pretty invasive testing of the kids with gut issues (involving a 24 hour fast, sedation, scoping and, if necessary, biopsy), all done in Texas. Guest guest
Dr. Kartzinel is a big name DAN doctor. He does know about Dr. G (they may have even met a few times when Dr. G did a few DAN conferences back in the day). Kristy, I noticed you said he's at Thoughtful House, maybe you mean Dr. Krigsman? Krigsman is at Thoughtful House but Kartzinel is now in Florida (relocated from LA about a year or so ago). Guest guest
Doris, I wanted to say that he probably reminds you a little of Dr. G because much of Dr. G's protocol is now used in DAN. They've taken what they perceive to be the best of Dr. G's protocol and added it to DAN, some even have more of an awareness of CFS and use it in their treatments. It's mostly just the big name DAN docs right now. The lesser known ones are slower on the uptake. even mentions Dr. G in her book. His work is now gaining a lot of acceptance in DAN and he is getting the credit. That doesn't make DAN like him any more and it doesn't make Dr. G like DAN any more so it's not like you'll be seeing any of them working together anytime soon! cheryl On Feb 27, 2008, at 9:00 PM, Cheryl Lowrance wrote: > Dr. Kartzinel is a big name DAN doctor. Guest guest
Oh, Cheryl, you're probably right! I get their names confused all the time. Kristy Re: Larry King show .... Guest guest
Try this http://www.cnn.com/video/#/video/bestoftv/2008/02/27/lkl.autism.long.c nn It is only a 12 minute clip but it's the only thing I could find. I found it extremely hopeful. J-Mac is now 19 and was severely autistic. To see him now is unbelievable. My son is 4 1/2 and making great gains but some days it is hard to imagine his potential 10 years from now. If anyone knows where we can view the full length, please let us know. > I thought it was going to be on tomorrow night. > > Is it available to watch online? > > > __________________________ > Reality lies beyond the horizon... > Wonderwegian > > Larry King show .... > > > The Autism Special on Larry King with J-Mac just finished ... > I want to know .... > who is Dr Jerry Kartinzel and does he know Dr Goldberg? > Dr Kartinzel is working with McCarthy and things he said > reminded me alot of what Dr G says. Guest guest
Thanks for the link. I did not see the original show, but I got the feeling that was the entire clip. Does anyone know for sure? I am very interested to know what interventions J-Mac received growing up. I do remember his mom just after his hoop victory (2 years ago) talking about how he was always fully included in school. I personally wish *they* would stop mentioning " vaccinations " with " autism " all the time and instead focus on the very toxic environment we have created. Our oceans, water supplies and agricultural lands (not to mention our homes and the items we use daily) are full of mercury, arsenic, lead, phtalates, and who knows what else. I also feel strongly (I'm not a scientist - just a mom!) that certain individuals are much less tolerant of these toxins that others, which is why I feel Dr. G is on the right track with the theory. That said, I don't think a bunch of vaccinations in one day is good for little bodies (just like a bunch of sugar in one day is not good for little bodies). My son received 4 vaccinations in one day when he weighed 4.5 pounds, a month before he was due ;-( I still do not believe the vaccinations caused him to have a compromised immune system, but they certainly did not help. Neither did receiving the MMR vaccination while he was recovering from becoming extremely ill with asthma and severe constipation when we tried to introduce cow's milk around his 1st birthday. (Cow's milk and MMR = 2 big hits at once) Kristy Re: Larry King show ....
