,

Could you call the manufacturer and ask them who they distribute the 2ml

vials to in your area? It might help narrow your search a bit.

Good luck!

Subject: Help...I need gammastan!

My pharmacy says the 2ml vials of Gammastan are on back order for a few

months and only the 10 ml is available from the manufacturer (it's $185

and one-time use only.)

Does anyone know of a pharmacy in Orange County (North, preferable)

that stocks or can get the 2 ml size?

Thanks,

Friendly Hills Pharmacy. They ship it to me in San Diego. 562.698.0909. They

were recommended to me by Dr. G's office.

Do you give these shots yourself? I'm asking because I'm considering

doing it myself, too.

Cheryl,

We give them to my son ourselves. My husband gave me fertility shots, so he

is usually the one who gives them to my son, but he was out of town last

time, so I did it. I found a tutorial online that walked me through it.

We give them at night, when my son is sleeping. One of us holds him, and the

other does the shot. He may fuss a bit, but he doesn't wake up.

Be sure to ask the pharmacy to give you syringes!

Gamastan is very thick. We've had more success when we warm the vial in our

hands for a few minutes before drawing it into the syringe.

I'm thinking I may just do that, then. I think tomorrow when I go in

for our shot I'll ask them if I can do it and see how it goes. Do

you know if the insurance coverage is different when you do it yourself?

Hi Cheryl,

Our insurance isn't covering the shots when billed through Friendly Hills. I

have not yet submitted claims for them.

Unfortunately, our insurance doesn't cover either through Friendly

Hills or CVS (where we have gotten this before).

To answer your other question, we do it at home as well. I hold my

son while my husband injects it. It's not fun, but it beats the 2

hour ride to Tarzana.

Dr. G's office said we could leave the Gammastan out on the counter

(room temp) for up to 2 hours to " warm " it up, so it wouldn't be so

cold goin in.

Hope that helps!

That's the same information I received. Leave the vial out for up to

2 hours.
