Guest guest
Wow, ! I've not yet gotten my lab results back, so I don't know if I'm hypo or not, but I agree with Gracia: What a horrible thing for a doctor to say to a patient! Don't they realize it's the patients that make riding in their Mercedes possible? What you posted is my worst fear. I sure hope you can find a doctor that's worth going to. This one sounds like a real quack! Like Gracia, I'd sure like to know who/where this doc is so I can avoid her like the plague! To Gracia... we can self-medicate?? I didn't know that. Is it dangerous? I read somewhere that Armour is a " very dangerous drug. " Ella > > , this has to be the worst doc in the world. Can you say who/where > she is?? Guest guest
Gracia: I couldn't get the two links you posted to work. Are they e-mail addresses? (noticed the @ symbol). Guest guest
Hi Ella, I see you on the other sites now Armour is a very dangerous drug to the pharmaceutical industry, because they cannot patent it. Unfortunately medicine is subject to fads and misinformation and a lot of big money interests. I had to self medicate because my TSH was supposedly normal (after a partial thyroidectomy) and I was so sick I was literally saving my own life. It was easy. Guest guest
Hi, Gracia! Yes, there's several very helpful sites, thank God! How would one decide, or what is the deciding factor most of the time that leads people to go forward with self-medication? I always doubt what I'm thinking or doing in regards to the hypo issue, and mostly now because I've not gotten my labs back and still have no idea where I'm at. If I'm " subclinical, " is it safe, do you think, to try to self-medicate? I notice that many do, but is there a danger in it with Armour? Guest guest
Hi Ella! I was in an HMO which was worthless and trying to kill me. About eveyr 3 months I would go to a different doc, but just get no help. One doc gave me a homeopathic remedy for bp and thought my hair falling out and rapid pulse just had to do with bp. It was long slow torture and I just got so sick of it. I tried Armour and it just helped me. Now I think it is easy to try it, just do what was done many years ago before we worshipped tests. But you might get some good info from the right tests---I only had the TSH done when I was so sick. Gracia > Hi, Gracia! Yes, there's several very helpful sites, thank God! Guest guest
Gracia, I'm with an HMO right now and I could spit. When I wasn't sick, they were great. I seriously doubt any of their abilities and I don't feel like teaching them, ya know? Although, when I requested to go to an endo, they asked why and I told them that I'm used to having my Free T4 and T3 tests done along with the TSH - no problem, so that was good. Unfortunately, the endo is in the Top Doc list.....I guess if I get fed up with them, I could scream. I don't know. THat's why I was going to a seperate doctor( homeopathic) but I wasn't really impressed with him either. Anyway, that's my two cents about doctors and HMO's. Guest guest
I think HMO's are the devil anyway. I think it's just one more way for insurance companies to get more out of us. You mentioned a rapid pulse.. did you start out hypERthyroid, or is that another symptom of hypo (there's so many!)? My pulse is really slow 58-60bmp consistently, unless I'm doing cardio then it goes through the roof) and my bp 99% of the time is pretty low. I'm sure it must be normal, but low nonetheless. I've been waiting on my lab results to come in, and sometimes I think I'm waiting for nothing because from all I've heard...the panel I got wasn't the correct one, and one that could mislead big time--no FT3 or FT4, etc. Just TSH and T3 and T4. IF I'm hypo at all, I'm probably going to fall into the subclinical range because my symptoms aren't as severe as most. Ella PS and these docs here are going on strike because of " frivolous " malpractice suits? Get REAL! > > Hi Ella! I was in an HMO which was worthless and trying to kill me. Guest guest
I'm finding most insurance companies see themselves as some " elite club " where only the healthiest are allowed to join. I checked into getting my own health care here, without being in a group insurance through a company, and do you know what the rep told me? She said that I would be applying to be accepted into a " group of healthy " people, so a full exam and labs had to be done prior (that I had to pay for) and that if ANYTHING was wrong I wouldn't be accepted. She further stated that IF I was " healthy enough " to be accepted that I wouldn't get prescription coverage for at least 90 days so they could " make sure I was healthy. " HUH? These people really disgust me. They wanted me to pay full price, have that huge deductible, AND not have script coverage...just in case I NEEDED it??? Cripes! Don't even get me started.... Guest guest
Has anyone tested your thyroid??????? Get FREE T3, FREE T4 and TSH at www.healthcheckusa.com Post the results here. I used to be able to run my fingers through my hair and with two or three " run-throughs " build a hay stack in front of me. My doctor told me to go see a dermatologist. Wrong! They always try to dope us up on anti-depressants. Lots of people on these boards are on Armour and it is good for them. However, it is not a drug to fool with without knowing what you're doing. You should get an idea of where you are first by getting those tests. If you need Armour, it will take anywhere from a few days to a few weeks to start feeling better. Quote: " My doctor said I was vain and to come back when I was totally bald. " I cannot imagine a vet treating a dog as poorly as your doctor treated you. Val in Boulder, CO -----Original Message----- From: White [mailto:catherinepcs@...] Hi- I'm new to this group and I have a question....one that may have been answered before so, if so, I'm sorry. When I went to the doctor with my hypothyroid symptoms...hair falling out (all over) skin problems, fatigue, etc...she put me on zoloft. Like I was imagining something that wasn't really there. Or like I was worrying unnecessarily. Is this common for doctors to do this kinda thing? I know a friend of mine was put on prozac and she had about the same symptoms as me. My doctor said I was vain and to come back when I was totally bald. It's not that I was really that worried about my hair (even though I had really thick hair before and now it's maybe a fifth of what it used to be and is in a really damaged state...when it's wet, I can take the ends of it and just pull it all out, like it's been burned or something) I was concerned mostly about my health because I know falling hair is a symptom of some kind of medical problem that's going on in the body. And I really am having trouble functioning due to my tiredness. I take vitamins, and I've ordered the Armour...which leads me to my second question. I haven't really read good things on this board about the Armour...in fact I've only heard good things about it from one person. Is that because no one else has tried it or because the success stories don't end up here? I am definitely going to give it a try because I am totally desperate to feel better...I have to work and am afraid I won't be able to if I keep going downhill like I have been. Also, if anyone knows...approximately how long before I start to feel better when I begin taking it?
Guest guest
Hi Can anyone tell me how open their regular pediatrician was when you told them you were taking your child to see Dr. Goldberg? Do other Dr.s seem open to ? Thanks
Guest guest
Our doctors don't seem to care. They don't agree but they don't care, either. Guest guest
My son's doctor has been supportive with virtually everything we've asked for where Noah is concerned. His office staff is always asking me if any new labs or progress reports are available that they can review and put in his records. However, I haven't spoken in great length with his regular doc regarding the treatment. HTH, Robyn Cheryl Lowrance <c.lowrance@...> wrote: Our doctors don't seem to care.
