Guest guest
You are so right . Fortunately my son, also a patient of Dr. G's since Oct of 2002 at the age of 4, was fortunate to respond so fast. However, realizing all kids certainly have varying degrees of illness and therefore recovery, their results will vary. My point was just that if kids are sick, all the therapy in the world is not going to fix that. While they may need help catching up, the illness that is causing the problems in the first place needs to be addressed. Over the years I have admired your patience as we all know how very long and difficult the road may be. But it does move forward. I shutter to think where my beautiful, smart, mainstream 9 year old boy would be now if it weren't for Dr. G and the sometimes 2 steps forward, one step backwards journey we have been on. As I said, each time, we have been at least a step ahead! I agree wholeheartedly, keep the faith parents. But help your child with their health, as much as with other therapies! My son has been with Dr. G since Oct of 2002 (turning 10 years old this summer) and he still has echolailia and does not understand why questions all of the time. (Reading Comprehension is a big issue because of this.) Each child responds on a different time scale... as each has a different degree of immune impairments. I didn't want someone to read your post and think that their child will not be helped because they haven't seen immediate gains. My son has made slow, steady improvements (with a few back slides, but always regaining skills) over our 5.5 year journey with Dr. Goldberg. He is so much better off than he was when we started even though he isn't 100% yet. Keep the faith, parents! - in Mobile, AL __________________________ Reality lies beyond the horizon... While does ask and answer some " what " questions, he's just starting to answer " why " questions. If you want to email me directly, I can attach the data sheets with the questions. Guest guest
Lori & , We started with Dr G. a year ago January, when was 5 & 1/2. was diagnosed PDD-NOS at age 4 & 1/2, with pronounced communication delays and, to a lesser extent, social delays. Last school year was a disaster. Our district hired a new SPED director who implemented really good new programming for the 2007-2008 year. He repeated Kindergarten (at our insistence after the year before, plus he's a June birthday) in this new program. Also beginning this school year, we hired an outside SLP who we see once a week; most recently, we hired a paraprofessional to go to the YMCA afterschool program (which he has attended since last year) and help facilitate social stuff, work on academics, etc. He's really flourishing. When we ask ourselves what the magic component is - I truly think it's everything. More importantly, I also truly believe that there is no way he'd be able to access any of the therapies, school work, etc without Dr G's protocol. Over the last year, he's made huge strides toward bringing out the kid we always knew was in there. That being said, I was not sure what to expect when we started. What we have seen is steady progress with alot of " wow " moments. These kids all present so differently, that there's no clear way to predict how they'll respond to all of our interventions. But, the protocol is key in enabling them to benefit from everything else. Alaine > > > > Alaine, > > I'm also new and have the same problem with my son repeting > words.
