For my middle son, we submitted the patient packet in November and we had our

first appointment with Dr. G in late January. I submitted my oldest son's

patient packet in March and he sees Dr. G for the first time on April 11. I

think the only reason we got an appointment so quickly for him is that my other

son was already an established patient and had a follow up on April 11th. We

have drive in from the Antelope Valley, so it's easier to have both boys on the

same day.

Good luck.

It depends on how many new patients are arriving. He only does

intakes one day a week (I think it's one, it might be 2). These

intake appointments are long about 2-2.5 hours. You have to send in

your packet before they'll even consider giving you an intake

appointment. So that takes time to get it all together. I think the

total time we waited was about 3-4 months. We had to get all our

records together, send them in and about a month later we heard back

from them to make an appointment that was about 2 months out.

Sometimes the wait is just a few weeks, sometimes it's 6 months. It

just depends on how many are coming in. At the time, you also had to

pay $175 before they would make the appointment, too. This was the

fee for putting all the records on the computer so I would be

prepared to pay that when you hear back from them. They'll send you

a letter (that's when I found out about the $175) and if I remember

correctly, some stuff to be signed to mail back and then they call

you with your appointment. It's funny because I remember being livid

that they didn't tell me from the get go that I also needed to pay a

fee. I had no problem paying a fee, it just would've been nice to

know about it *before* hand so I would know to expect it in order to

get an appointment. Had I known when I first got the initial packet,

I would have started putting it away (we are always tight on money

ever since autism came into our lives). I don't know if they still

do that but I'm betting they do so be prepared for it.

We just saw Dr. G for the first time March 21. It took 4 to 6 weeks to get an

appointment.

Yes on the fee but it's $200 now. I totally understand about the budgeting part.

$200 is a big deal when the " A " word comes into your life. The fee is a records

review fee, and I was amazed at how much Dr. G knew about our son's medical

issues. There must've been 75 sticky notes on the more than 200 pages of records

I sent. As with most of our kids, Noah's medical issues are varied and complex,

and in some cases, downright contradictory. It was great to have one single

physician view everything in totality.

I agree...Dr. G spent far more time reviewing my son's 3 " high packet before

we arrived for our first appointment than probably anyone else would have,

and he spent over 3 hours with us that first visit. I remember the fee being

$175 2 years ago, but I also remember that being applied to our first visit,

but my memory has been *%$@ lately ;-(.

Wow! The wait times are different! Rob and I overnighted our package

on Tuesday, spoke to on Wednesday and had an appointment

with Dr. G the following Friday! The hardest part for us was getting

a flights that got Bobby and me there the day before (we're in NY) to

let Bobby adjust to the time change and Rob there the morning of

appointment so our younger two were only without us one night. As far

as the fee, I didn't pay it until I made the appointment, and I think

it was around $200 (this was this past November). That intake fee was

worth every penny as I don't think any Dr. was more prepared than Dr.

G at our initial visit, which lasted about 3 hours.

Good luck!

When I spoke to his office in November, they told me that some appointments had

opened up. Unfortunately, my son's medical records were scattered in so many

places that it took me longer to acquire them than I thought. Although I sent

the packet in mid November, we didn't get an appointment until the end of

January. I'm sure there are only so many intake appointments in any given month.

There could've been a cancellation or you guys got really lucky. It's definitely

worth the time, money and effort to see him. He's great!

All the best,

Robyn
